A New Year, A New Thing!

It's a new year, a new day. What is the unheard of thing God is doing in your 2020?

Stop dwelling on the past, Don't even remember the former things. I am doing something brand new, something unheard of. Even now it sprouts and grows and matures. Don't you perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and open up flowing streams in the desert. I love this TPT version of Isaiah 43: 18,19. Even now it sprouts ... it sprouts like our new spring veges and flowers ... and it grows... what a beautiful picture of the future. The new thing He is doing in us will be as fresh and beautiful as a spring garden. Do we perceive it? Are we aware, do we understand it? Often we do not. We view the future out of our past. We limit how far we can go because of how quickly we stalled, and were waylaid in the past. How do we avoid this pitfall? How do we hold on to this wonderful, brand new thing God is doing, without allowing the past to overshadow. Don't even remember the past! God tells us in many places in the Bible, how to guard our thoughts. He knew how limiting our own thoughts can be. How do we not remember or think about it? We crowd out our words, with his words. We read the scriptures, we feed on the scriptures, we meditate on the scriptures. We take them like food. I'd say vitamins, but we too often forget to take our vitamins. But we don't ignore that growling belly. We over feed it. This year lets feed our Spirit with the living, life giving Words of God, as much and as often as we eat physical food. This year, when those downer thoughts, begin to fill our minds, crowd them out with God's word. Keep it at the ready. Say it out loud. Breath and meditate on it at night and mutter it all day. Then and only then, will we heal our souls, that is our mind, our will, and our emotions. If we want any change this year, whether it's health, a trim, fit, body, a better financial situation, a happier family, or even a closer relationship with God, then we need to feed our Spirit. We will find healing for our souls. Our soul consists of our mind and those nagging thoughts, or forgetfulness, His word can only make it better. Our will, will respond to what is good and right as we feed our spirit with his word. Our will power will become His will power. It's His already, why not give it back by choosing to feed on the power of the Word? And those roller coaster emotions will even out and make sense to us as we feed on the Word. In 2020 we can find peace that passes understanding in the word, not in our yoga class. We can find weight loss, in the living, healing word of God, not in the latest diet. Those are all good things, yes. Still they lack the life giving, life changing that comes with the healing power of God's word. Jesus said, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.... and Psalms 107:20 says, He sent forth His Word, and healed them. What is the 'new thing' God wants to do for you? Do you perceive it? Are you aware of it? And will you choose to embrace it with your words? The Lord longs to be gracious (giving) to you. He longs to show you compassion.
